San Francisco, CA - March 31, 2010 - SmileOnMyMac has released PDFpen 4.6.1, an update to its PDF editing software for Mac OS X. Text resulting from OCR (Optical character recognition) is now positioned more accurately for selection and highlighting.
An occasional problem with sheet-fed scanners has been corrected, as well as an issue with drawing text annotations. Other minor improvements and fixes have also been made.
PDFpen 4.6.1 can be downloaded at http://www.smileonmymac.com/PDFpen/download.html. The update is free for registered users of PDFpen 4.x.
The changes in PDFpen 4.6.1 have also been made in PDFpenPro 4.6.1, the Pro version that has the ability to create fillable PDF forms and document Table of Contents, in addition to all the features of PDFpen.
PDFpen costs $49.95. PDFpenPro costs $99.95. Family Pack licenses, which cover up to 5 computers in one household, are $74.95 for PDFpen and $129.95 for PDFpenPro. Upgrades from earlier versions are $25.00, and free to users who purchased after June 1, 2008. Upgrades from any version of PDFpen to PDFpenPro 4.X are $50.
PDFpen and PDFpenPro require Mac OS X 10.4 or later. An Intel 1.8 Ghz processor or above is recommended for OCR. Snow Leopard is required for the direct scanning feature. Fully-functional demo versions are available at http://www.smileonmymac.com/PDFpen/download.html.
